RSS launches ‘One Plate, One Bag’ Initiative to Make Maha Kumbh Plastic-Free

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has launched the “One Plate, One Bag” initiative in a bid to make Maha Kumbh 2025 an eco-friendly event.

The campaign aims to replace plastic bags and disposable utensils with sustainable alternatives.

Krishna Gopal, the RSS Sah-Sarkaryavah, urged collective efforts to eliminate plastic us and stressed the importance of adopting cloth bags and reusable items. As part of the initiative, around 70,000 cloth bags have been handed out from six distribution centres.

Altogether, 2 million steel plates and glasses have been collected from across the country to further promote sustainability. These reusable items are being distributed at the community kitchens and food outlets within the mela premises, replacing single-use plastic and thermocol utensils.
