PM Modi likely to visit Maha Kumbh Mela on 5 February

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Maha Kumbh Mela on 5 February, according to sources cited by news agency ANI.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to attend the mela on 27 January. During his visit, he will take a holy dip at the Sangam, perform Ganga Puja, and hold meetings with officials. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is also expected at the Maha Kumbh Mela and he will take a holy dip at the Sangam on 1 February.

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on 10 February.

Ahead of the visits, security agencies have heightened vigilance at event venues across the city. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 1.597 crore devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on the ninth day of the Maha Kumbh.

As of January 20, more than 88.1 crore devotees have already taken a bath at the Triveni Sangam.
