PM Modi takes holy dip at Maha Kumbh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Maha Kumbh Mela on 5 February and took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. He was seen performing puja while standing in the river as priests chanted mantras.

The Prime Minister also took a boat ride to Sangam in Prayagraj, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In a video the PM was seen waving at thousands of devotees attending the fair.

A high alert has been issued in the city in view of the PM’s visit.

"In line with his commitment to promote and preserve India's spiritual and cultural heritage, the Prime Minister has consistently taken proactive steps to enhance infrastructure and facilities at pilgrimage sites," the statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) read.

Many politicians, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have visited the Maha Kumbh. Prominent personalities like Coldplay singer Chris Martin, Hollywood actor Dakota Johnson have also visited the Maha Kumbh.

Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk also visited Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh.
